on Ansar in the works

Sofranko from Ulster County,
NY has started work on an
independent documentary film on Ansar Mahmood. He filmed footage of the
candlelight vigil in December in Hudson and has
filmed a three hour interview with Ansar in prison at Batavia.
He has also interviewed members of the Chatham Peace Initiative. He's a cameraman who has done a lot of
work for HBO and has an abiding interest in grassroots activism and both
humanitarian and social justice issues. His main camera man, Toby,
is also very liberal. Jim, with a trip
with Susan Davies to visit Ansar in his home town in Pakistan has completed the bulk of
his footage. In September of 2006 we
were contacted my Masood Haque, originally from Pakistan, who speaks Urdu, and
who now an emergency room doctor in NY and a filmaker studying at City College
in Harlem, NY. He will be worked with
Jim and Ansar to tell Ansar’s story in a documentary film for his master’s
thesis. He traveled to Pakistan with
Jim to interview Ansar and has complete his film which
is about 30 minutes long and which focuses on Ansar’s family and Ansar.
